Depth-Aware Background FAQ

How is this different from regular Background Replace?
Regular Background Replace just cuts out the subject and drops in a new backdrop, without considering spatial relationships — which can look flat. Depth-Aware Background first analyzes the original photo's 3D depth structure, then preserves that layering when generating the new scene, so the subject blends in with real spatial depth.
How should I write the scene description?
Describe the full scene you want, including the subject, e.g. "a woman standing on a forest path covered in autumn leaves, dappled light." The more specific the description, the closer the result matches what you have in mind.
What kind of photo works best?
Portraits with clear foreground/background layering work best. For flat backgrounds (like a plain ID-photo backdrop), the result is similar to regular Background Replace — so use that instead to save credits.
Does it preserve the subject's exact look?
AI tries to preserve the subject's shape and position, but the depth model's main job is maintaining scene structure, not perfectly preserving every detail. For high-fidelity subject preservation, AI Creative Edit or regular Background Replace is a better fit.
When should I use depth-aware background instead of a regular background swap?
Use it when your photo has clear foreground and background layering, like a portrait on a path or a street, so the new scene keeps real spatial depth and the subject does not look pasted on. For a flat or plain backdrop, regular Background Replace gives a similar result and uses fewer credits.
Does it cost credits, and what scenes can it place my subject into?
It is an AI tool that uses credits, with free trial credits on signup. You describe any scene in text, for example a forest path, a city at night, or a studio set, and AI rebuilds it with depth around your subject. Each result saves to your local library automatically.
